Cobalt International Energy is a global oil exploration company based in Houston, Texas. Cobalt’s pioneering approach to oil exploration was built on the unique idea that an agile company, armed with exceptional human talent, the best available seismic data, outstanding assets, and a disciplined business model, can compete with the world’s largest energy companies. Through their experienced workforce, innovative technology, and pioneering siting techniques, the company has built a carefully selected, world-class oil portfolio in the deepwater regions of the Gulf of Mexico and offshore West Africa.
This project was a 96,500-sf interior build-out of Cobalt’s new six-floor corporate headquarters. To meet the aggressive 16-week schedule, the project was scheduled in multiple phases. The executive space corridors were expanded, more offices were added, and office sizes were adjusted to meet Cobalt's standard.
The space included a number of commissioned features including custom millwork and specially matched carpet needed to supplement the existing broadloom that remained. New audiovisual systems were also installed to handle the energy firm’s global needs. Since several floors in the building were previously renovated, one of the biggest challenges our team faced was working around existing finishes that were to remain untouched. Our project team worked hand-in-hand with our subcontractors and the furniture vendor to create a detailed protection and coordination plan that allowed the team to successfully work around the existing furniture and finishes—ultimately allowing Cobalt to move in on time, with no setbacks.
