HITT's Research & Development Mission

Currently, the construction industry faces a multitude of challenges. Yet less than 1% of industry revenue is invested in research and development. HITT’s R&D team focuses on finding new methods, materials, technology, and performance to improve the built environment. Utilizing Co|Lab, our designated hub for inspiration, research, and testing, we collaborate with our industry partners to challenge assumptions, push boundaries, and change minds as we strive to deliver better buildings and experiences for our clients, our partners, our team members, and our world.

About Co|Lab

Co|Lab is HITT’s designated space for research and development work. The building itself is a state-of-the-art facility designed to operate at net zero energy and incorporates a fully mass timber structure. Two-thirds of the space is dedicated to maker bay operations, with the remainder of the building serving as collaboration and event space to engage stakeholders and the public in HITT’s R&D work.
