Sustainability

A leader in sustainable construction, HITT is dedicated to minimizing our carbon footprint and reducing the environmental impact of our business on the planet.

A Sustainable Vision

It’s imperative that we take action today to reduce the impact of our business on the environment and minimize our footprint.

People

We reduce the risk of exposure to our team members and skilled trades by promoting healthier designs and actively mitigating environmental risks, such as air quality on our jobsites.

Places

We partner with clients who want to build responsibly by mitigating the impact of construction on the environment. By using green building methods and approaches, together we can deliver more sustainable places.

Planet

HITT is committed to carbon neutrality by 2023. Reducing our carbon footprint is a critical step to mitigating the impact of our business on the environment and slowing the effects of climate change.

Subject Matter Expertise

With the expertise of our dedicated in-house team of sustainability experts, HITT has delivered more than 200 LEED certified projects nationwide. In addition to USGBC’s LEED program, our projects comply with green building codes and other leading third-party certification programs such as the Living Building Challenge (LBC) and the WELL Building Standard (WELL).

Education

Green building practices are ever evolving; our sustainability experts are dedicated to keeping HITT team members, partners, and clients in the know to ensure continued progress towards our vision.

Client Advisory and Transparency

While we’re working to achieve carbon neutrality for our own operations, the impact of HITT’s business goes far beyond our walls. Analysis and client advisory of the environmental effects of our projects is crucial to achieving our broader sustainability goals.

Material Health

The materials we use and the methods we employ have a huge influence on an environment’s health. We’re constantly evaluating and improving our materials for the safety of our team and the environment.

Embodied Carbon Reduction

HITT’s sustainable construction team is committed to finding carbon reductions early in the design and construction process to lower embodied carbon (the sum of all GHG emissions created by the building materials we use on our project).
